Altrincham and District Amateur Saturday Football League

7:54pm Monday 20th February 2012

ATLANTIC FC firmly established themselves as favourites for the Division One title at the weekend after a 3-1 win against Knutsford FC moved them 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Jamie Ford’s opener (penalty) was swiftly responded to by Knutsford in the first half, but Andrew Massey and Dave Jones were on hand after the interval to secure all three points for Atlantic.

Despite having played three games more than second-placed Wilmslow Sports and third-placed Sale Amateurs, who drew 0-0 with each other on Saturday, Atlantic’s eleventh consecutive league win gives them a clear edge over their nearest challengers.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Broadheath Central JFC ‘A’ played out a goalless draw against Egerton FC while Salford AFC ended their eight-match losing streak with a 5-2 victory against bottom side Old Alts. Second-half goals from Carl Worthington, Dion Keller and Seb Jones settled the match after Alts’ David Hayes and Daniel Nelson had cancelled out strikes from Greg McAvoy and Dave Collins.
