Altrincham Kersal 8 Beverley 8
6:04pm Monday 20th February 2012

AK hosted Beverley in National League 3 North.
Due to adverse weather neither team had played for the past three weeks and it showed in an error strewn first half. Beverley took a narrow 3 – 0 lead into half time through a penalty. Despite playing into the strong wind in the second half AK had most of the territory and possession but a break away try from an interception pass gave Beverley an 8 – 0 lead.
AK came back strongly and Rob Holloway kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit to 8 – 3. AK then had strong claims for a penalty try turned down by the referee, but eventually pressure told and from a turnover the ball was moved wide through the backs and Tony O’Connor showed good speed and strength to go over in the corner.
Unfortunately the conversion was missed and further AK pressure couldn’t be turned into points, with the final score 8 all.
Next Saturday AK play top of the table Darlington Mowden Park at Stelfox Ave ko 14.15.
On Sunday AK Under 13s beat Macclesfield 12 – 0 and AK Under 15s beat Crewe & Nantwich 68 – 14 to progress t Cheshire Cup semi finals.
