Altrincham Kersal 19 Birkenhead Park 19
4:46pm Monday 30th January 2012

AK travelled to Birkenhead Park in National League 3 North, and it was Birkenhead who started the better, going into a 14 – 0 lead after only 15 minutes.
AK, though, then started to get a grip of the game and after going close on a couple of occasions, a well worked switch move saw winger JP Singleton go over for a try.
Chris Stewart converted and AK went into half time only 14 – 7 down.
AK dominated the start of the second half and a well worked line out move saw Mike Marsden put John Geddis in for a try, which was converted by Chris Stewart.
Dean Harris then went in from a close range try and AK were 19 – 14 up.
Unfortunately a couple of kickable penalties were missed by AK and after some late pressure Birkenhead Park got over with the last play of the game to snatch a 19 all draw.
Next Saturday AK play league leaders Darlington Mowden Park at Stelfox Ave ko 2.15pm.
AK 3rd team beat Wirral 39 – 29 while on Sunday AK Senior Colts also beat Wirral 44 – 7. There were also big wins for the AK Under 13, 14 and 15 teams.
