Rugby - Wirral v Altrincham Kersal
5:34pm Tuesday 31st August 2010
Wirral 13 Altrincham Kersal 33 ALTRINCHAM Kersal gained a convincing victory over newly promoted Wirral in this first round of the Cheshire Vase competition. Although Wirral won the toss and played with the strong wind at their backs in the first period, the visitors took command from the kick-off with their forwards driving the Wirral eight back at the set pieces and in the loose. Although they ran in five tries, dropped passes at crucial moments meant that at least three scoring opportunities were lost. Three of Kersal's tries came from the pack, Hutchinson, Laga and Smith getting the touch down. And the Edwards brothers, Paul and Simon shared the honours for the other two. Wirral's scores came from a well taken early penalty goal and two late tries which their kicker was unable to convert.
.
Kersal's first league match of the 2010-2011 season is a home fixture against Liverpool St.Helens, kick-off 3.0 pm.
