Oldfield Brow Primary gets a surprise visit from a Roman soldier

HISTORY came to life for youngsters at Oldfield Brow Primary School - when a Roman soldier walked into their classroom.
The soldier, in full uniform, told the surprised year 4 youngsters he had been 'pensioned off' from guard duties on Hadrian's Wall.
He told them he had walked all the way from the wall to get to Mamucium and had got lost in Oldfield Brow.
Taking on the role of the soldier was Derek Pierce, the chairman of the South Trafford Archaeology Group (STAG).
The visit rounded off a class project about Roman life.
