Rapper to perform at Lostock College, Stretford, and discuss crime and anti-social behaviour

9:00am Tuesday 7th February 2012

A RAP poet will entertain pupils in Stretford while debating key themes such as crime, gang culture and anti-social behaviour.

The interactive presentations, to be performed by reggae artist D-Bo General, will take place at Lostock College.

They have been designed to give students an insight into the negative impact of crime and why it is important to have respect for people and communities.

D-Bo General, also known as Donavan Christopher, will hold two separate sessions with youngsters from years seven and 10.

As well as discussions, the sessions will allow students to sample the artist’s rapping skills before trying out their own.

Tina Jackson, Greater Manchester Police’s safer schools officer for Lostock College, said: “GMP and its partners are working hard through projects such as this to increase awareness of the dangers of these threats and are particularly focusing on vulnerable young people who may be drawn into criminal activity.

“We hope that the sessions will be attended by all pupils in the school. These will then give them different perspectives on problems they may face in future.”

The workshops have been organised by GMP and charity Crimestoppers and were funded by Adactus Housing Association.

They are part of Crimestoppers’ Fearless campaign. For more information visit fearless.org.
