8:00am Saturday 4th February 2012

A SOCIETY set up in 1998 in honour of Altrincham Grammar School for Boys’ founder and first headmaster, Laurence Saville Laver, held its annual dinner recently.
The Saville Laver Society event was held at St John’s College, Cambridge, where Laurence was a student at the turn of the 20th century.
The dinner saw more than 40 current Oxbridge students, old boys, teachers and old friends of the school come together in the Great Hall, St John’s College.
Laurence was 32 when he became headmaster. He died three months before the schools 21st birthday. The school celebrates its centenary this year.
