Stunned by 12ft sunflower
4:00pm Saturday 4th September 2010
URMSTON resident Tony Bullen was stunned as he watched his sunflower grow to an astonishing 12 feet.
Yet Tony, 75, insists that he did nothing special to the flower and that he isn’t that good a gardener.
“I’m amazed that it grew so tall. I planted 8 sunflower seeds for each of my grandchildren, and one of them just shot up.”
“Now I have to keep changing the name of the sunflower so that the kids don’t fight about whose it is!”
“I’m very proud, it’s a beautiful flower and all of the neighbours have been around to admire it.”
Tony has lived in the area for 15 years with his wife, who has lived here for 35 years
