Harry Kershaw predicts wedding weather for Sale couple
12:00pm Monday 6th September 2010

A SALE bride-to-be has enlisted the help of an amateur weather forecaster to get a prediction for her big day.
Alison Weaver, from Winstanley Road, has been so impressed with Harry Kershaw’s weather predictions in the Messenger that she decided to contact him for a forecast.
The 39-year-old personal assistant is getting married to her partner Matt Holroyd at Trafford Town Hall on Friday September 17 with a reception at the Cresta Court hotel in Altrincham and is hoping for a dry day.
“I’ve been reading Harry’s predictions in the Messenger for years and am always amazed that he gets it right.
“All I’m bothered about is whether it rains or not. As long as it’s dry!” Alison said.
Luckily for Alison, Harry has predicted a dry day for the wedding but said it could be ‘a bit overcast and cloudy’.
Harry, a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society, uses weather patterns from previous years to predict the forecast.
He correctly predicted this year’s record cold winter and soggy summer and in April said August would be cooler than average with above average rainfall.
According to Harry’s records, September 17 has below average rainfall and in the last 30 years it has rained 12 times.
He said it was a shame the couple haden’t chosen September 18 for their nuptials as it will be a fine day or October, which will be in the midst of an Indian Summer.
“The 16th and 17th are not bad, I would say they will be cloudy and dull but not wet, but the 18th will be a fine day,” he said.
But Alison and Matt, who met at the Bridge Inn on Dane Road two years ago, arn’t going to let the weather ruin their big day.
