Pensioner hit by cyclist on Broadheath pelican crossing dies

A PENSIONER who was knocked down by a cyclist on a pedestrian crossing in Broadheath has died.
At around 6.40pm on March 18, the 81-year-old man was walking across the pelican crossing on Manchester Road (A56), close the junction with Devonshire Street, when he was hit by a 22-year-old cyclist.
The pedestrian was treated by a passing doctor and then taken to Salford Royal Hospital where he remained in a life-threatening condition, but died on Saturday, March 23.
The cyclist was not injured.
